Saturday 30 July 2011

Basically yesterday I KO-ed instantly when I reached home.
The act of sleeping 5-6 hours on weekdays is too much =\ not to mention studying.

On Friday it was sort of action-packed. It was the deadline for the CCA achievements part of the testimonial. Students are required to run around the whole college looking for teachers to verify this information with their signature. Kinda like fans running to their idols for their autographs. Finding teachers are hard especially those you don't see around in school. It feels like I'm playing TeacherHunt.

Had GP Paper 2 mock later in the afternoon and it went quite well! Finished 5 questions in 20 minutes and this is the first time I finish the whole paper with 1 minute to spare. However, time taken to finish paper does not necessarily translate to good grades. So we shall see how well I understand the whole passage. Argh classmates keep saying I'm pro in AQ (application question) in GP. Actually I find the difficulty of AQ questions to be how well you can relate to the question. Like for the mock it was about food. That is something everyone can relate to. A previous TYS I did was on animal rights. I was stumped there and couldn't write much.

OMO seeing people drinking Gong Cha and being close to Milk Tea shops isn't good for me. Fasting from tea is hard when the temptations are strong. When fasting ends I shall buy Green Tea Frappucinno heh.

Day 16 - a song that you used to love but now hate

I used to like this until it annoyed me countless times by appearing at unexpected times or waking me up at night. Players of mousehunt who enlist the help of....greasemonkey or whatever can relate to this heh.

Bizzare...
Friday 29 July 2011

Had a weird dream yesterday night...all I could remember was seeing a blue moon...that's on fire. What sort of significance does it have? Can a moon be blue and on fire?!

Singapore vs Malaysia yesterday. Not really into soccer but somehow I want to support Singapore! Didn't watch the match but judging from the shouting and screaming I hear occasionally, I think the game has gone well. Then there's twitter. With twitter and like 20 tweets coming in per second, I know the game without watching it o.o. Knew about the 'spectacular laser show' Malaysia put up for Singaporeans and many nonsensical things.

Day 15 - a song that describes you

Good times...reminds me of secondary two days.

And....another bizzare news...apparently some teenager killed his girlfriend....to get free breakfast. WTH?!

Sports Carnival?
Wednesday 27 July 2011

What's a sports carnival with only two sports? A not so interesting one. Last year's one was interesting; there many games and MUSIC! Spent the day playing frisbee after a really long time not frisbee-ing. Captain's Ball match was interesting too heh. Like the Polo-Byron match if I recall correctly. The score difference was astronomical!

Day 14 - a song no one would expect you to love

I think I have a certain liking to local songs heh.

Tuesday 26 July 2011

Argh my knees feel weird, after playing handball yesterday. It's like pain but not pain?!
Must be the sudden stop and start and impulses during the game. I should stick to cycling, it's the best sport cause it does affect your knees heh, provided you cycle the right way.

Day 12 - a song from a band you hate don't like

I don't think there are bands that I hate (like really hate to the core that I will DSGFDSGDFDF when I hear a song from that band.) I don't mind listening to Justin Bieber songs but only once though. After that it's arghhghgh

Day 13 - a song that is a guility pleasure

Funny I can't find any 'normal' studio versions of this song; the ones I do find are lower in pitch. I guess this song is a guilty pleasure cause...I don't know....maybe people think its gay for guys to listen to Taylor Swift

Analogy...
Monday 25 July 2011

Lol came up with another chemistry analogy cause I was bored. Kind of realised that drinking coffee can be linked to an exothermic reaction? The energy boost you get from caffeine [adrenaline rush heh] could be like the activation energy, and the moment you have an energy crash when the caffeine runs could be like how the products of an exothermic reaction have less energy....

Hm if that's the case, what would be a catalyst? Tea? Or something that has less caffeine content?

Meh realised for the last week I have been drinking coffee. The time lost sleeping in tutorials and lectures is not something that can be gained back.

Day 11 - a song from your favourite band

We the Kings ftw!

Saturday 23 July 2011

Noo didn't post yesterday cause I KO-ed when I reach home. Night study ftw?
Kind of regretted choosing to do Electrochem as my TYS (twenty year series) topical revision cause it's one whole big topic! Three sub-topics seperately! (Redox, Electrolysis and Electrocell) Spent the whole of my revision doing it and i ended up only doing the whole of paper one, even though I'm motivated. So many questions argh but it's good revision. I can imagine after finishing the whole of Electrochem and I will like be owning it in the exams.

I observed a trend lately...it's like it will rain on Fridays and the rest of the week will be super hot. Liked how the school played NDP songs yesterday. Ah how I miss NDP songs, so nice to listen to, like Corrine May's Song For Singapore. They didn't play What Do You See though, which is the song me, Justin and Zhi studied to during O-levels heh.

Great worship and cell time today. DI has a virtual bookshelf now heh, shall go check it out later. Played bowling today for cell-time! Quite a different experience. Quite funny cause me and Le Fa were the only ones doing the so called fake spin. I was owning with that technique in the first few rounds but Le Fa owned in the end. Great game heh. Looking forward to next week's one which is a surprise. Heard it's going to be awesome?!

Day 09 - A song you can dance to

Remembered this was one of the songs used during my secondary two street dance class to dance/choreograph to. Was kinda nice to dance to heh.

Day 10 - A song that makes you fall asleep

SGC
Thursday 21 July 2011

Yeah finally finished writing my SGC, though I still find it retarded that you write your own testimonial. The whole system is complex and it involves praising yourself and running around getting signatures. ZZZ

Saw a bee at morning assembly and in class during school yesterday and it triggered off one of the great memories I had in Kranji. There was a time in our graduation year that there was a bee infestation! Heh could remember people avoiding the parade square area or even running through the area to evade the bees. The beehive was located on the roof of the hall? Can't remember the method they used to resolve the matter, it could have involved flamethrowers but I remember the next day seeing alot of dead bees on the parade square. Literally everywhere.

Had the first GP lecture in the term. Not considered a lecture cause we watched a documentary and an interesting one at that. Very insightful and addresses why there's inequity. It's called Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond and they only show like the introduction episode.

Day 08 - a song you know all the words to
想念 - Andy Philip

Hmm I know the lyrics to most songs in my playlist =\
I memorised this one while Wei Zhi, Justin, Jeremy and I were deciding to perform in Kranji's Cultural Fiesta heh. Andy's songs ftw!! Omo I'm suddenly reminded of iHeart Cafe

Gig!
Monday 18 July 2011

Whoops this post was meant for 16th July,
anyway went to Orchard Cineleisure after DI!
Fastgam was to perform at 8pm but somehow it got pushed back to 8:45pm?!

It's kind of amazing how much stuff you can learn just by watching a gig. The band before Fastgam who was playing some sort of heavy rock music was kind of cool and i thought the sound mixing was cool. Until they stopped playing. The sound crew in charge was simply unprofessional. During a sound check they played their own music (probably with an iPhone cause the song got interrupted halfway by a push notification). Throughout the gig the sound crew was as good as non-existant, only adjusting volume like only once and pushing the high-pass filter for no apparent reason? To think they get paid to actually do this seems kind of shocking, not to mention they are a company after all.

Fastgam! Their gig was good but the sound wasn't really good. Lots of feedback and horribly adjusted volumes. The sound crew was just slacking and seemingly oblivious. I think if it was me performing I would be super sian, considering you have to pay to perform too. Lead singer may not have the best vocals but he has great stage presence! Throughout the gig Le Fa was probably owning the whole thing heh.

Writing my SGC now and I realise, there's really nothing much for me to write...oh no...

Day 06 - a song that reminds you of somewhere

This song reminds me of mountain biking trails. Probably because the first time I heard this song was from some sort of advertisement featuring a super nice trail, one which Singapore doesn't have. Kind of associated any nature trail to this song now...

donation drive?
Thursday 14 July 2011

Yesterday we had some assembly to talk about initiating a donation drive for PJC.
Objectives? To raise funds for the needy and renovate the school premises.
James Koh (again?!) went to address the whole J1 and J2 cohort about this raising funds thing.
He brought up some story about some student whose father is the sole breadwinner of the family of 5 children losing his ability to provide for the family. Whether this is fictional or real I don't really know.

It's funny how when he keeps talking about the needy having no money for books, notes, entertainment and food because apparently the school is running low on funds, yet he was the one who initiated the useless iPhone app that probably cost about 4000 dollars if I'm not wrong? Sigh more rant about the PJ iPhone app which has absolutely no useful function whatsoever. No I'm not exaggerating, it really has no useful function. Then comes even more stuff about the donation drive which I cannot comprehend.

So, every person in the school is expected to donate a certain amount of money. The class who donates the highest amount gets to win 'prizes', which include branded items like shoes, limited edition shirts and what not. Heard that there's going to be a subsidy for the graduation night as well. Seriously? What happened to the raising of funds and the talk about helping the needy? Man the things PJ come up with LOL.

Day 04 - a song that makes you sad

Day 05 - a song that reminds you of someone

This song and the meaning behind is beautiful but when I hear this song I really can't help but think of Le Fa lol!

@ 11:22 pm

musing?
Tuesday 12 July 2011

Yesterday we received this community chest red packet asking for donations for some 300,000 disabled children. Now when I received this, I can't help but immediately think how is it that BMT NSmen get iPads and yet these 300,000 children still need finanical help? Do NSmen ready need this iPad? I still can't draw the link between the iPad and how it helps training in the battlefield. From what I heard, one of the uses is that NSmen can use some sort of messenging service on the iPad so they don't have to go bunk to bunk to deliver message. I think there is something wrong with society. Not to mention it kind of waste tax payers' money when it could be better channelled to other areas.

Day 03 - a song that makes you happy
Hm ok this is a really tough one LOL. It kind of depends on the mood you in. I guess a song that would do so in a general situation would be...

Maybe it's the tune, the lyrics or just the MV but it makes you feel happy doesn't it?

GP Snippet

Day Two - your least favourite song
I guess they would have removed the song by now. But it's probably the Fun Pack Pack Song haha.

School resumes and as usual, my Monday timetable is screwed up. Only this time it's worse. All subjects in one day. Timetable fully used up. Can't wait for condensed timetables to kick in. Will it be good or bad?

Found some shoes made especially for parkour and freerunning! Made by Five Ten! Which is not found in Singapore...at least that's what the website says. Have to order online or something. But they are good! Supposedly it's claimed that these shoes dont leave footprint marks on walls (ideal for wall running) and great cushion and grip. Not to mention it also serves as MTB shoes (which is how I found this brand of footwear).

A year has passed since accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour,
I guess that makes me a year old spiritually?
I could still remember that moment as though it was yesterday, Andy coming up to ask people to respond to the sinners' prayer, and then the so-called official confirmation with Andy behind the drum set.

Like to thank God for Justin for his continuous effort in trying to bring me and Zhi to DI. It's not easy and now I kind of know how it feels now when you get rejected. Can't imagine me and Justin used to be enemies back in primary school. For what reason? I can't recall.

Looking back, I kind of progressed quite alot! From my first time trying to pray, where I would stone trying to find the correct words to say or even structuring a format, from wondering why Christians do this and that. Although I did have some background information since primary school. Still can remember when Justin asked 'Do you know how many days before Jesus was resurrected?' and I immediately replied 3 instinctively and kind of subconsciously. Justin then gave the 'WHOA HOW YOU KNOW' face. Was surprised how I knew this even before accepting Christ and properly reading the gospels. Do I regret deciding to follow Jesus? NO!!

I do hope that my passion and flame for Christ will not weaken as time passes by but continue to just grow as I learn more things each day. NS may make it difficult to maintain this but I guess I would probably find a way.

Heh feel like doing this too

what happened to marking day?
Thursday 7 July 2011

There wasn't supposed to be school today, but somehow an event was made up at the last minute.
Something about some cultural day or some racial harmony day.
So we were to come to school dressed in smart casual or preferably an ethnic costume.
However, most of the school, like myself couldn't be bothered and just decided to come in school uniform.
Well, they didn't really define smart casual did they? (wait did they?)

Can kind of see the lack of enthusiasm from the J2s (not sure about the J1s). Afterall, we are kind of forced to go back to school when we could pretty much get some sleep. Sadly, I find it a waste of time to be honest. Heard that this is the first time PJ came up with this. Also heard that it was a certain teacher who came up with this, who alo came up with the PJ app. Well I can't really say much about this teacher cause he did not teach me personally (don't know what subjects he teach anyway), but other people tend to give rather negative testimonies about him. Hmm...

Had some Australians come to perform in school. If I'm not wrong, a classical guitar quartet, jazz band and I forgot. Thought they would have performed some well known piece like Canon (which I anticipated but sadly no).

Spent most of the day not going to the specified events but staying in one corner of school with Jun Yong and Yixuan talking about....bikes?! And some random stuff. Hm I can't wait for my 661 gloves and grips to come in heh.

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim

Road Trip to Punggol!
Physics Paper One yesterday was unexpected. Quite a few questions were hard to do.
Anyway turns out we cycled 100km+, falling short of what my cyclocomp says. Weird. My cyclocomp went haywire as we cycled through Seletar Airbase, or the SYFC place. Magnetic interfernce?! Nah, probably not. I guess my magnet was out of place.

Matthew L.'s full XTR groupset bike. Gotta give respect to him as he rode a full suspension bike whilst cycling on road. Not easy, as I have been there. Never gonna touch a full sus bike ever. Singapore doesn't need one anyway, not like we've got insane downhills or insane terrain that would warrant a full sus system.

This picture reminds me of Black Mesa...for some reason

Super tiring but still worth it. Cool sights and argh now I know why gloves have padding on them. Mine is some gym glove with no padding and my wrists hurt at the end of the day.

300th post!
Haven't been posting cause was so tired.

1/7/11
Went night cycling with John last Friday on 1st July.
John couldn't decide where to go at first. Then we decided on West Coast Park but that wasn't our intended destination at all!
So the Tanjong Pagar rail has closed down and apparently that's where me and John rode. Not on the rail but the weird narrow overgrown trail that is next to it.
Problem is, I didn't expect to ride somewhere that is pitch black! If I knew about this, I would have tried to attach every light I have to my bike to add to the lumen count. Sadly, all I have is some cheap $10 light which is brighter than I expected but did not help in lighting up the path.
Thankfully, John's 1W light saved the day (or rather night).
Quite creepy actually, cause you could only see in front of you. Turn to the left, right or behind and you see nothing.

Saw some unknown people on the trail with super bright lights. Couldn't identify who they were. They shone their super bright lights at us and was blinded temporary. Argh they killed my eyes that just got adapted to the darkness. Was worried for awhile that they would attack us or something. Crazy imagination.

Lagged behind for a split second and that split second alone is really scary cause I depended on John for light. Thankfully I caught up with him..

Got out of the dark and finally to somewhere more comfortable. Time to invest in a light?
Made our way to Holland V.
Very happening place. My second time there, of which the first is DI's Next Stop where we ate awesome KATONG LASKA!

2nd-3rd July
Had another overnight camp right after DI, only this time it's for fun. Kinda resembles a chalet though. Interstingly, without caffeine we all stayed up even later. Is it because there's no energy crash? Played lots of board games before KO-ing at around 5am. Won my first monodeal game! What an achievement heh.

Woke up at 8.30am and went for Youth Service. Wow sleeping only three hours makes your more energetic than sleeping ten hours. But if you try to pull off this stunt the next day it wouldn't work anymore. Youth service was really interesting. Worship was great. I like the dance they included during worship heh.

4/7/11

Went Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to study but....
what's there to study for Physics Paper One?
Coffee Bean vs Starbucks...
I think Coffee Bean is nicer although their menu is smaller compared to Starbucks (i think)
Their serviettes aren't that great though.

Gonna have a road trip tomorrow after Physics or rather the end of MYE. Off to Punngol we go!

One Last Paper!
Friday 1 July 2011

What a relief!
One more paper to go and I can take a temporary break...
before the hectic studying schedule resumes.

Maths paper 2 was surprising easy. But there were others who, on the contrary, found paper one much easier. Which is really weird. Maybe those who found paper one easy found paper two hard and vice versa?

Chemistry papers 2 and 1 were okay as well BUT after finishing paper 2 I had a major headache. Headaches and papers which require speed and accuracy such as paper 1 do not go well at all. Found out I committed countless mistakes....

Physics paper 3, relatively easier than paper 2. I found out that I finished 4 questions in half an hour. However, I stoned around for like 15 min deciding which 2 questions to do next out of the 3.

Shall go do some night riding and destress. Not surprisingly, many people ignore or do not care about paper 1 (the last paper) and self-declared the end of exams already!

You are good You are good when there's nothing good in me
