Great week laid out ahead....with only like a day of lessons for this week and that pretty much ends Term 3? But argh have chem remedial after teacher's day celebration. I think my class is the only class that has it?! At this rate I'm going to be super pro in Chem with all the intense lessons. It seems like I do, eat, sleep, play chem everyday.
Day 28 - a song that makes you feel guilty huh....none?
Day 29 - a song from your childhood
Can't vividly recall when I heard this song and loved it. During some Singapore event? Can't remember. I think it's some sort of talent competition.
Day 30 - your favourite song at this time last year
I remember preparing for OP with this song. Ah good times

Prelim!!
Thursday, 25 August 2011
Tomorrow marks the start of Prelim!
And then after that Prelims will be put on hold until about 3 weeks later where it will start again.
After GP, there's lessons also. NOOOO
Anyway I learnt alot since my Mid Year Examinations, some exam strategies of some sort.
It is cardinal to drink coffee or some energy boosting substance in the morning to avoid possible fatigue and headaches in the middle of doing a paper. Experienced this quite a couple of times during mid years and it wasn't pleasant. Couldn't concentrate and lack the will to do the paper altogether. Didn't get quite a good grade either. Subjects that use extremely high brain power for me at least are Math and Chemistry.
Pray immediately when seat is located. I find it quite annoying and distracting when the person in charge of the examination begins interrupting by repeating the rules of the examinations which by now we are all so familiar with.

Had the hardest Math paper I've ever had yesterday. Really quite demoralising. Heard it's the prelim paper last year? The kind of paper which makes you feel like giving up halfway. Who knew putting in unknowns could make a question seem ten times harder?
Day 27 - a song you wish you could play
Wish I could play the bridge part. I bet I could but I can't find time to actually properly practice that part.

Day 25 - a song that makes you laugh
It's Justin's fault heh. There are alot of songs that make me laugh, most of them are altered in some way or another but I think this is the best heh. The altered version has been removed but I still remember them when I hear the song, like I don't hear Japanese when this song is played but rather English.

The Siddharth Returns!!!
Monday, 22 August 2011
Today marks the day of Siddharth's return!
After about 2 years since he left for Canada (and is doing quite well there, already being in a university even though he is the same age as us), we finally got to see him again!
The most drastic change was his voice. What happened?!! It sounds like he has a sore throat or something and his voice is like really really low. Like he would be a singer for Bass 2.
Met him together with Zhi, Jun Yong, Jeremy Pang, John and Eugene at Lot 1 and had dinner at New York New York heh. Of course, Siddharth's accent and manner of speaking changed to resemble more of a foreigner and a little American-like. Or is it Canadian-like?! Couldn't get used to it at all! Shared more about Canada and his endeavours..it's like Kranji all over again!! Sad he came back to Singapore for less than a week for his NS checkup before flying again.

So my form CT noticed the lack of reception for the signing up for tables for Graduation Night, so she wanted to subsidise our class to form another table. A $500 subsidy! Is Grad Night a positive or negative externality? Anyway, nah I'm just not feeling it for PJ's Grad Night. Though there's that chance to win the iPad and the fact that there will be 98.7FM DJs including the Muttons, I don't think I'm going. Wouldn't mind if there's a Kranji Alumni Grad Night though. What makes a Kranji Grad Night more appealing? Hm..then there's also the extra pressure(s) involved in a typical Graduation Night..
Day 24 - a song you want played at your funeral

Majority of my sickness is gone except for traces of cough and phlegm. Why does phlegm take really long to clear?! Kinda had an average week, but as Le Fa puts it, rejoice in the Lord always!
Presidential Elections are coming soon, and what Singaporeans did during the speeches was indeed disheartening. As soon as Tony Tan went up the stage there were jeering and 'boos'. No respect for an elder who contributed much to the nation? And just because he is connected to the PAP he is shot down before he made his speech. Of course, it isn't surprising. Just look at STOMP and the other citizen journalism websites and the comments. Although it is quite polemic (jyeah new word) on whether the government should oppose the PAP so that it would limit the PAP's powers.
Wednesday had PJ Got Talent! Although I think it should be renamed PJ Who Got More Popularity/Friends. Fastgam was good heh. Le Fa and Justin grooving to the rhythm...although the singer kinda messed it up. There's this girl but I can't remember her name. She's really good at the piano and writing songs! Whoa when I heard the piano intro, I had goosebumps - the good kind - and makes me wanna learn the piano. (Oh no am I going to learn another instrument?!).
Great Encounter and message today! Speaking of which I'm tasked to prepare acoustic arrangements for a slow and a fast song. When I first saw the word slow song, one song immediately came into my mind. But this song is rather hard to arrange for an acoustic version. Partly because its more of a hymn and the recorded version has no guitar (except for some distorted strums in verse 2) and is more piano driven. This would prove to be quite challenging.
Day 23 - a song that you want to play at your wedding I don't think Canon in D is considered a song so...
A little cliche heh but still it's a good song. When I first saw the video the first thought that came to me was "Where's Taylor?!"

Encounter!
Sunday, 14 August 2011
Made a decision to join Encounter Service Team!
Although this period of the year is the most hectic...
I'm pretty sure I will be able to manage both serving and A-levels
As it is said
But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you
Luke 12:31
Had the so called 'Encounter Academy' yesterday! Andy is the principal heh.
Was asked to prepare a song and here it is. An amazing song and it's the opening song for Day of His Power. A really powerful song and it is really apt to be used for an opening worship song in my opinion.
Learned about dynamics for song, how to approach a song and interpret lyrics deeper. The dynamics part kinda reminds me of the good old choir days. Whoa reminiscence. Charis who is also in Academy and more or less my classmate learnt basics of guitar. Reminiscence again of my secondary school days. First time touched a guitar in secondary two and couldn't play for more than 5 minutes. Then there's also every new guitarist's hated enemy, the F chord (or barred chord in general) and the fact that most songs are very hard to play. Reminiscence overload!
Message on Saturday was really good and really applicable. Wei Yang then shared something that I can relate to. Must write down in notebook before I forget.
Day 22 - a song you listen to when you are sad

Singapore's 46th Birthday!
Tuesday, 9 August 2011
Although I watched a little part of the NDP parade before going off for night cycling to NTU, it was great! Didn't really like the MRT rap part though, maybe cause I hate rap. Why does it have to be portrayed in rap? Trying to blend in with the younger generation? Another thing I couldn't stand was the male artistes crossdressing to act out a female role. Bleah
Sucks to be studying on the nation's birthday. Such is the reality of Singapore's Education System, one that is energy sapping, stress inducing, time consuming...you name it. Not to mention the increased competition sigh.
Day 19 - a song from your favourite album
Once again, We the Kings ftw!
@ 11:55 pm
Day of His Power!!!
Day of His Power yesterday!! And it was an awesome!
Had National Day Celebration in PJ before that and sad to say it was not really that great compared to last year. It feels like just another one of the pointless and time wasting events that happens this year. I don't remember seeing much of James Koh last year though. What happened?
Not to mention that he made a joke out of the Singapore Pledge....if someone were to video it and upload it to the internet, I think he will lose his job. There are clear distinctions between being patriotic and making a joke out of something that symbolises the nation. Anyway that's not really the point of this post.
Day of His Power at Singapore Indoor Stadium! When Justin said it will be a totally different experience, he wasn't joking. With all the churches in Singapore gathered together in a HUGE stadium, the effect was simply overwhelming. Not the usual Honour Room prayer meeting setting but like 100x of it. Worship experience was totally awesome too, and it strengthens my calling to be a worship leader heh. Overall, it was an awesome time at the stadium in His presence. Had a CUTENESS OVERLOAD when the children were called up to the stage. Their actions were super cute and couldn't help but smile when they did what they did.
On a side note I was told of a third Bundaberg flavour thanks to Le Fa. I thought there were only two flavours initially heh. This third flavour is not bad!
Day 18 - a song that you wish you heard on the radio There's something about hearing a song on the radio than hearing it on your music player. It feels totally different and gets you excited!
I wonder if Singapore radio will play this?

Time
Monday, 8 August 2011
Hm what have I been doing? Haven't posted in nearly a week.... Guess I have been too tired after school everyday. The condensed timetable sees the official school ending time to be 1-2pm, but there are invisible timeslots called Subject Days. The past week had been tests everyday.
So PJ has this banner hung up counting down the number of days left to the A levels. (I think other schools have this too). 90++ days or 3 more months... 3 more months and all the hard work will be put to the test. 3 more months and it will be the last time setting foot into the college (though I still will be able to see it whenever I pass by the PCN). 3 more months and its NS time which I would describe it as ammesia period where you forget everything you learnt in the past 2 years and go to university.
Am I ready? Everytime I see the banner at night i begin to reminiscence once again about PJ, mostly on orientation night. Fun times and the fun night games. Memories of the canteen filled with every class and everyone on enthu mode with loud music playing.
Day of His Power later on in the night but before that, National Day celebration. Kind of remembered about what happened last year at this time.
Day 17 - a song that you often hear on the radio 98.7 FM ftw! My long absence from being a regular listener to Muttons At Midnight left me shocked at the vast changes 98.7 Fm has gone through.
Arguably one of the nicer new songs on radio other than the rubbish ones topping the charts nowadays. Coldplayftw!
