Serving With Love (II)
Tuesday, 10 December 2013
Where's my ORD post LOL.
Anyway, yesterday we had another 'Serving with Love' movement but this time together with the main church. This time it's for the Christmas season and apart from giving out gift packs for these families we invite them also to our Christmas service as well!
We don't have the full strength of DI and we are split up into smaller groups of three. Hence each of us had to knock on more doors on each level. My experience this time is much different from the first. I had much more confidence and just let God move in me in ways I've never would have believed heh. To be honest, on the first time I was secretly hoping that no one would answer the door when I knocked on them. (which isn't a good thing of course).
I got grouped with Yue Mun and Jia Wei and we met really interesting people this time round! We met a Mr. Mugen (or was it Morgen) who happily accepted our gift pack and was interested in our Christmas service to which he told us he WILL see us there!
We also met a Mr. Raymond who is also a Christian but his current church is far away from his home and he is interested to just come down to WAC weekly with his children which is nearer and he also said he would be coming to the Christmas service!
Then there's also an English speaking elder who can't speak dialects (really rare nowadays if you think about it ) who said she picked up English because of her children but her husband can speak dialects. She was happy to receive the gift and indeed went on to chat with us for quite awhile. She couldn't believe I just finished my NS. (compliment muaha)
I also went and communicated with a Chinese speaking family. (Whoa what) Jia Wei was currently engaged with another Chinese speaking family and couldn't possibly come and help me. (We had made an agreement that Jia Wei would handle the Chinese heh). So I just tried my best to tell them about what we are doing and I was amazed that I could actually do it. Turns out my Chinese isn't that bad afterall eh.
In the end, I received more than I gave and I was glad I helped out with the food distribution. I didn't want to initially but thankfully I did in the end. Hope I get to see the people that were interested to come for the Christmas service later this month!
